Team Manager Metro West Region – Full Time/Permanent role

We have an exciting new opportunity to join the Key Assets NSW team as Team Manager for the Metro West Sydney region. This role will be based in the Blacktown office.

Key Responsibility

As the Team Manager you take a high-profile leadership role within the team and provide appropriate levels of line management, supervision, support and training to Social Workers and Caseworkers to ensure that a high-quality practice is achieved.

About the Role

As part of the Metro West team, you will be responsible for:

  • The induction, supervision, line management, training, and development of Social Workers.
  • Ensuring that social work practice in relation to quality assurance and best practice is maintained.
  • Working closely with the Assistant Director/Operations Manager to ensure that the social work team is appropriately resourced, managed and supported.
  • Monitoring the compliance in relation to Case Plans, Placement Agreements, Health and Education Plans, Foster Carer Renewals, WWC checks (or equivalent) and medicals.
  • Working with the Assistant Director/Operations Manager to develop, implement, and review service provision provided to children, young people, families, and carers.
  • Ensuring targets are met in line with the contract.
  • Assisting Social Workers with complex cases and carrying a small case load, as and when required.
  • Contributing to the growth and development of the business by implementing key areas identified in the business plan.
  • Being involved in the recruitment, assessment and on-going monitoring of the suitability and competence of carers ensuring they provide a safe, healthy, nurturing and learning environment for children/young people, as appropriate.
  • Undertaking support visits and telephone contact with carers, in keeping with the placement agreement, including minimum bi-monthly or monthly supervision, as required.
  • Working in partnership with all professionals to identify any needs within the foster family.
  • Ensuring each child has an accurate and up to date Case Plan on file and that carers have a copy available for reference.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Office of the Children’s Guardian accreditation requirements.

Experience and Skills Required

  • A minimum five years’ experience as a qualified Social Worker in a children and family setting of which two years must have been gained working in intensive family support, child protection and/or out of home care.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage a team.
  • Ability to create a positive working environment where people can reach their potential.
  • Experience of working with foster carers and young people.
  • Thorough understanding of the issues relating to the placement of children in alternate family care, including therapeutic care principles, permanency planning principles and their applicability to children in foster care.
  • Knowledge of group work principles.
  • A proven ability to produce a high standard of report writing.
  • Be able to show initiative and to work independently.
  • Have a strong ability to create and maintain sustainable relationships with stakeholders and capacity to develop networks on behalf of Key Assets.
