  • We provide therapeutic practice support to families and the vulnerable children and young people placed in their care
  • Travel within and around northern Brisbane and Sunshine Coast regions, you will be required to have your own road worthy vehicle as a requirement of the role

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are welcomed for appropriately qualified and experience people to carry out Casual work for our Children and Young People in Out of Home Care in the following areas;

We look for people who have genuine empathy and an interest in being a part of a team who provide therapeutic support to our carers by way of direct support to the children & young people placed in their care.

SUPPORT WORKERS - Provide direct support with our children and young people; respite, birth family visits, in class/ school support, community engagement, behavioural/social mentoring, camps/activities and or excursions.

EXPERIENCE NEEDED –  Have studied or be studying a Human Services or equivalent qualification, understand of the effects of trauma on behaviour and learning and experience in mentoring, residential care or youth detention.

DISABILITY SUPPORT – Supporting children and young people with various diagnosis such as; Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral palsy and other genetic conditions

EXPERIENCE NEEDED – Have studied or be studying in areas of disability support or equivalent qualification. Have experience in administering medication, PEG Feeding, hoist /manual handling, personal care and behavioural management.

TRANSPORTATION/HOME ASSISTANCE – Provide home/domestic assistance in the carer’s home, transportation for our children and young people to various locations.

EXPERIENCE NEEDED – Be studying or have recently completed a qualification in Human Services, have an understanding of the effects of trauma on behaviour and learning, follow business processes around reporting incidents and or disclosures.

Other Experience and Skills Required

  • Collaborative support, advocating for the child or young person and participate in our Key Care team Frameworks
  • Assist in care / behaviour plans for our children and young people
  • And ensure compliance of business and child protection policies & procedures
  • Be energetic and enthusiastic, have a passion for working with children and young people who have been exposed to trauma and or may have a disability 
  • A certificate in Human Services/Disability and or a similar relevant field (minimum Cert 4)
  • First Aid Certificate is essential and certificates in areas of disability support
  • Be confident and able to deal with difficult situations in accordance to business and child safe procedures
  • Proven experience in Youth work, Youth Detention, Residential Care and or OOHC
  • Current Australian “C” Class driver license, is a must and your own fully insured/registered vehicle (Mileage reimbursements are available as per business policy)
  • Availability during weekdays, during afternoons and early evenings (some weekend work may apply also on weekend rates)
  • And must have a Working With Children Card/Blue Card relevant to QLD and be willing to undergo and satisfactorily complete personal and statutory checks
