About the role

To provide an effective and strategically planned quality assurance support role to the Recruitment and Panel Team. Ensuring all Foster & Kinship Carer assessments (initial, renewal and affiliations) meet statutory and agency requirements and align with Key Assets vision and values; and supporting the pre-service and post-service training requirements of fostering applicants and approved foster carers in line with statutory and agency requirements.

Core Tasks

  • Co-ordinate and complete the renewal of approval process for foster carers; present the Initial renewal reports to the Key Assets panel; and submit to the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs approving manager.
  • Where required, support the Recruitment and Panel Manager within the initial approval space including quality assuring initial assessments and supporting documents to either be presented to the Key Assets and Departmental panels for compliance with regulations, Key Assets’ policies and procedures, and best practice guidance prior to acceptance onto the agenda
  • Ensure that a training needs analysis of prospective carers is completed and reviewed in line with the renewal process and a professional development plan is updated in line with the renewal cycle. 
  • Manage the Quality Care Training modules (pre and post approval) for Foster & Kinship carers and contribute to the development of a needs based training program for Key Assets Carers.
  • Co-ordinate APA, Blue Card, AHM documents, change of circumstances and maintain licencing requirements in the regulation of care space.
  • Where renewals and initial assessments are outsourced, supervise contractors and staff members who have responsibility for the completion of renewal of approvals to ensure that carers ongoing suitability to foster is scrutinized in line with Regulations, Polices and Procedures and best practice guidance.
  • The Carer assessment and Training coordinator will be expected to participate in regional meetings with the Department.
  • To be responsible for reporting on training attendance to the Recruitment and Panel Manager, Assistant Director and Compliance Manager in preparation for management meetings, quarterly Director Reports, for compliance with Departmental regulations,
